PANZ's assessments and Practitioner Certification programme have been designed to meet the needs of the many individuals and programmes that have requested certification and as a response to the demands for our industry to be accountable. We recognise the need for certification will vary with individuals and programmes and we have three different levels of certification available. We also understand that certification alone does not address every safety and quality issue. However, properly applied, certification can be very helpful in promoting safety, quality and good professional practice.

Practitioner Certification Level 1 – Challenge Course Technician

Certification at this level is offered to individuals who have completed training and have demonstrated competence in basic programme knowledge and technical skills. Level 1 is designed for individuals who operate standard introductory activities, low challenge course activities and initiatives and standard high challenge course activities. Candidates must also be able to document appropriate training, a minimum of 25 challenge course programme days and successfully complete a written and practical test to demonstrate the required competencies. Dates and price on application.

Practitioner Certification Level 2 – Challenge Course Facilitator

This level of certification requires additional training as well as broader programme knowledge, theoretical understanding, and technical skills. In addition to the competencies of Level 1, Level 2 certification requires training in challenge course rescue procedures and the ability to safely operate other more complex high challenge course activities. Prior completion of Safety Skills and Standards training or equivalency is required. Candidates at this level are required to document appropriate training, a minimum of 100 challenge course programme days (low and high element programming with an emphasis on highs) and must pass a written and practical test. Dates and price on application.

Challenge Course Manager

This certification is designed for programme directors, course managers and others who have programme management responsibilities. Candidates must have completed and hold current Level 2 certification to be eligible for this level. Candidates must be able to document a minimum of 200 programme days of experience, appropriate management training and pass a written comprehensive exam. Dates and price on application.
